Seasons

Snowbird season and price

From November to April the corridor between New York and South Florida is one of the busiest in private aviation. Demand runs south before Thanksgiving and Christmas, north in the first days of January, both ways around Presidents’ Day and the March school breaks, and north again as the season winds down in April and May.

On the busiest days, fewer aircraft are free, some operators add peak-day surcharges, and the best options go early. Two habits help: book holiday trips well ahead, and fly a day either side of the rush when you can. Because so many aircraft fly one way full and return empty, look for northbound empty legs around the holidays and southbound ones in spring.

Winter departures from New York can also need de-icing, which the quote lists as a possible extra. More in Snowbird season and New York–Florida prices.
